Mabel L Wall 1894

MacAfee got married in 1946 and moved to Lake Charles, La.

I think Mrs Mabel moved there also, probably 1947.

Mrs Mable came for a visit with Ray Batchelor and family.

I am pretty sure Chester was one of the kids.

Ray took everyone down the lane to the back pasture

where a killdeer bird had a nest.

She would play like she was hurt and everyone would go over to catch her,

and when away from her nest, she would get up and fly away.

"The killdeer frequently uses a "broken wing act"

to distract predators from the nest."

There was a hole perhaps six feet in diameter washed out by rain water.

It was not long after the war, and Chester said "foxhole"

ran over and jumped in the hole.

There was a small amount of water still there,

and he got his clothes wet and did not have any spare.
