They grew their own food, hogs, beef cattle.

They grew cotton, with spinning wheel made thread.

They used "cards", kind of like wire brushes

to pull the cotton off of the seeds.

James got sick during the war

and they sent him home.

Susan was born 1964

Aunt Matt raised the kids.

She said that Ma had the kid

then turned it over to her to raise.
