Ray owned some negroes

I know, he could not "own" them, probably called it "share cropping".

Ray had a "store account" where he could buy supplies during the year

and pay when the cotton crop sold.

He bought flour, salt etc for the negros

and one time called the doctor when one was sick.

The exact pay is unknown, but the negros did get the scrap meat when they killed hogs.

It must have been the early 1940's when he set the negros free.

(fired, run off, failed to replace)

and tore down the negro houses.

The only names remembered are:

Sarah Odom (real tough)

Daisy May (Sue loved her. Named her doll Daisy May)
