Westlake LA
"City of Westlake is a great place to live, work, and play"
Hal McMillin, Mayor
If your grass gets too tall
he will cut it for you $3,000.00
My mother used to say they are "Nasty Nice"
Two explosions follow decades of fires, toxic leaks, injuries
at Westlake Chemical plants.
The chemical plant explosion at Westlake Chemical
forced several schools into lockdown
and sent a dark plume of smoke over Westlake
A review of federal and state records
reveals that Westlake has a long track record
of chemical spills, fires, air quality violations,
failed safety inspections, and accidents,
But it is not always the fault of the company.
They tell that the way to freeze homemade ice cream
is to turn a hose of butane down open air into a tub
and after a few minutes it will start filling up.
Then set the bucket of ice cream down in the liquid.
Of course it is boiling off like a fog
but the wind will carry it off.
What happens if they get one little spark?
And there is the case where the man was using a lighter
to see how full was the tank.
How can one make safety rules against stupid?
Westlake told regulators that an accident
could spew up to 660,000 pounds of toxic gas
across 25 miles --
A large share of the release would likely be chlorine gas,
a substance used as a weapon in World War I.
