What not to do may be more important that what to do. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Buy Now $11.95

Many people have yard sales with no problems, but things could go wrong.

A manual of things not to do, along with some good things to do is available here

It costs $11.95 with free shipping, and is well worth the money.

Things that you probably never thought of, and ways that could cost you lots of time and money.

Rules vary from place to place, but be careful of posting signs.

You may also need a permit, and if you have several sales in one year, you may run into a sales tax problem.

A sign is not much good if you can not read it

If people were walking, there would be plenty of time,

but most customers will be traveling by car.

The sign should be read within three seconds.

It should say what and where. The time is secondary with a yard sale,

unless you leave the signs up after the sale is over. Be careful of this, as you may get charged for the removal.

General prohibition.

The erection, installation, maintaining, or otherwise placing or permitting to remain within the right-of-way, including the ditches and the banks thereof on the outer or far side thereof, of any advertising sign, poster or other object . . . .

Penalties for violation. . . . . a misdemeanor punishable by a term of imprisonment of up to thirty (30) days in jail or a fine of up to five hundred dollars ($500.00) or both.

. . . . each day any violation of any provision of this Code or any ordinance shall continue shall constitute a separate offense.
